" My name is Jake Carlson. I am 16 and I live in Elk Grove, California. I have been showing dairy goats for seven years in 4-H and FFA. I have a herd of 12 Toggenburg does and 6 Saanen does.

I participated in the National Dairy Goat Show in Sacramento, California this year, the highlight of the show being when my three year old Toggenburg doe placed second in her class. My major influence in the Toggenburg breed has been from Charlie and Dr. Joan Dean Rowe, they have taught me an immeasurable amount about the breed, genetics, and showing.

I attend Elk Grove High School in the Central Valley of California and I am currently serving as the Elk Grove FFA Chapter Treasurer for 2009-2010. I am very involved in the FFA and attended the National FFA convention in Indianapolis this month. I plan to keep showing goats through school and plan to become a veterinarian after college."
